Happy Fall! Are you looking to get away from your routine? Nothing is more appealing than Fall in the City! There are so many activities and events in Philadelphia to choose from, all while staying in a picturesque historic bed and breakfast. No matter if you are looking to get in the Halloween mood, some family fun, or getting ready for the Philly Marathon, you will find things to do! Below is our guide to Fall in Philly:
Eastern State Penitentiary
Arguably the best spot for some spooky fun, Eastern State is only a ten minute drive from Cornerstone (or 20 minute walk)! Halloween Nights is a yearly tradition at Eastern State where you can walk the old cell blocks turned into a haunted house. Maybe haunted houses aren’t your thing, no problem! Visit the themed pop-up bars and beer gardens on the property. Or enjoy a campfire while listening to ghost stories. As an extra-special surprise, Cornerstone B&B guests receive discount tickets! Visit the Eastern State Penitentiary website for the full lists of events- we promise you won’t be disappointed.
Philadelphia Marathon
Stay at Cornerstone for one of the country’s premier — and most scenic — running events typically sends 30,000 athletes through historic Center City, past the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Boathouse Row. The weekend often includes an 8K race, half-marathon, a Kids Fun Run and the Health & Fitness Expo. We are the CLOSEST lodging to the start of the races- you can literally walk to the starting line in 10 minutes! Race events happening November 18-20.
Philadelphia Arts Fest
Starting September 17th the Kimmel Center will be hosting Philadelphia Arts Fest. They are partnering with many Philadelphia based art organizations. From 11am to 3:00pm there will be a sampling of free performances and activities for everyone.
South Street Fest Thursdays
Head on over to South Street every Thursday through October 27th. Enjoy live music, good food & drinks, art, and shop at local businesses. Each week has a distinct theme, so check the official South Street Headhouse District website for the latest info on weekly events and specials.

Philadelphia Fringe Festival
For nearly a month, avant-garde performance meets street theater during the annual Fringe Festival. This year, the festival brings more than 200 performances, ranging from circus arts to comedy, to traditional and unexpected venues throughout the city. Some of the most-anticipated events for 2022: Spokaoke, a karaoke-like experience that asks brave participants to reenact historic speeches in front of a packed audience; the U.S. premiere of celebrated French choreographer Jérôme Bel’s self-titled choreographed autobiography; and the Philly premiere of An Untitled Love, an evening-length work from acclaimed choreographer Kyle Abraham.
Tarot Card Tuesdays at Cornerstone B&B
Looking for something fun to get you in the Halloween mood on Tuesday nights? Cornerstone will be hosting Tarot Card Tuesdays throughout the month of October. Come and get your fortune read on our front porch, throw in our S’mores package & fire pit and have the perfect moody Fall night, all in the comfort of our B&B!

Peddler’s Village Scarecrow Festival & Shopping
Looking for a great day trip? Visit the charming Peddler’s Village, located about a 45-minute drive north from Center City Philadelphia. Beginning on Labor Day, more than 100 scarecrows (ranging from silly to scary) pop up all over the village as part of an annual competition among local residents and organizations. In between shopping and dining, check out all of the scarecrow creations and vote for your favorite via a paper ballot or through the village’s mobile app. On October 15 and 16, 2022, visitors can sample beers in the beer garden — in their own custom stein — enjoy fare from food trucks and delight in German brass music and folk dances during the OctoberFeast celebration.
